In den größeren Städten Yunnans gibt es legale Märkte, auf denen Welpen und Rassehunde als Haustiere verkauft werden. Der bekannteste Ort hierfür ist die Provinzhauptstadt Kunming, wo auch dieses Foto aufgenommen wurde.
Die Vorstellung, dass alle Chinesen Hunde essen, ist ein Vorurteil. Der Großteil der Bevölkerung hat noch nie Hundefleisch konsumiert. Der Konsum konzentriert sich hauptsächlich auf Teile von Südchina (wie die Provinz Guangxi mit dem umstrittenen Hundefleisch-Festival in Yulin), Zentralchina und den Nordosten.

In Yunnan’s larger cities, there are legal markets where puppies and purebred dogs are sold as pets. The most well-known location for this is the provincial capital, Kunming, where this photo was also taken.
The idea that all Chinese people eat dogs is a stereotype. The vast majority of the population has never consumed dog meat. Consumption is concentrated primarily in parts of southern China (such as Guangxi province, home to the controversial dog meat festival in Yulin), central China, and the northeast.
